In a previous article, we introduced DINOX World and gave people a taste of what the game will look like. Now it’s time to dive a little deeper into the gameplay itself and give you all something to be excited about!
Battle Dynamics
One of the main points of interest in DINOX World is that players will use their own NFT dinosaurs to battle other dinosaurs and creatures that inhabit the lands around them, gaining experience, items, skills and even usable currency in the process. So let’s take a look at how the battles themselves are played out.
All DNX dinosaurs are born with a few survival and battle skills already. These skills are displayed in the game as “action cards” with full descriptions of what they can do. Each dino will have a different skillset and if the dino is extra rare, it will have a bonus card slot in which an additional skill can be placed.
Strategy comes into play with which action cards to use and when. It’s often best to utilize the same type of cards, since having 3 of the same type will give your dino an additional percentage boost in battles. Selecting which dino to send into battle is also a strategic action that requires taking into account not only your dino’s particular skill set but also that of your enemy.
Currently, we have 3 different dino groupings: carnivores, herbivores and flying reptiles. There’s a rock, paper, scissor system, so each one of them is good against one group and bad against another. You can think of carnivores as damagers, herbivores as tanks and healers, and flying reptiles as dodging, critical hitting creatures.
Rewards & Gameplay
The rewards for battling the various creatures near your kingdom contain the full range of DinoX assets (DNXC, DNX and DNXI). Most of the time, the player will be rewarded with DNXI — where the letter “I” stands both for “item” and “interactive”. At the current stage, most of the DNXI items are the aforementioned action cards that can be utilized in battles, but there will also be items such as land or items that upgrade player’s dino complex or cool visual customizations for the dinos themselves (such as special equipment like armor or else).
The ways one will come across their reptilian foes are in the form of Quests & Campaigns and Map Exploration. Quests & Campaigns may lead your dinos on dangerous adventures where you gain rewards as you accomplish tasks along the way. Map Exploration allows players to discover new areas of their map and expand their kingdom, but there may be hidden dangers nearby waiting to be unleashed.
We have also created a unique way to gain rewards passively through the gameplay mode “Wild Hunt”. It’s a great way to gather rewards and resources while not actively playing the game since a wild hunt will automatically use your dino’s skillset to the best of its ability in each battle. The strategy here is to activate your dino’s strongest skillset or choose a particular battle strategy before sending them off on their own.
After the hunt is done, the player will be able to look at how each battle went and replay them to see what can be adjusted for a more favorable outcome the next time around. While this is a great passive gameplay option, it does take a bit longer to get through battles this way and once you send your dino on a hunt, it won’t return until it’s over.
Build Your Kingdom
Players will be able to build their own dinosaur kingdoms by constructing various buildings, such as training camps and research labs, with the aim to boost the performance of their dinosaurs and gain better rewards.
Training camps will focus on making your dinos stronger, quicker, or tankier depending on your strategy. Research labs offer extra chances to gain more lucrative rewards. Just as an example, researching certain technologies can increase the chance of receiving DNX eggs after successfully completing in-game accomplishments like Quests, Campaigns, or Wild Hunts.
As the game progresses, players can upgrade these buildings and create others which can, for example, increase the number of dinos one can use in a battle or allow for quicker dino healing after coming back from a battle.
